We have spirit, yes we do. We have spirit, how about you?
We hear this cheer at almost every football and basketball game, but the question arises, "do we always have to be in a state of competition, even when we are expressing our spirit - our true nature?
It started with the Women's March on Washington. Now it is a worldwide event! As women across the US are organizing to gather for the women's marches throughout the week of January 16 - 22, we are amazed at how the world feels about equality for women. D.C. can't fit in all of the requests for bus parking and there are over 1,000,000 organized marches over this weekend worldwide - now that is what "showing up" is all about!
The march is not about creating a larger divide, it is about peacefully communicating the fact that Women's Rights are Human Rights and vice versa. Creating a society where women are free and able to care for and nurture their families, however they are formed, in safe and healthy environments free from structural impediments is imperative to the rise of national and global unity. The Women's March is based on the following principles:
- Ending violence
- Reproductive Rights
- LGBTQIA Rights
- Worker's Rights
- Civil Rights
- Disability Rights
- Immigrants Rights
- Environmental Justice
Please remember that this is not a competition or an "us vs. them" demonstration. We have seen some great advice on social media and PinkConsciousness asks for everyone to follow their intuition and keep their eyes open (especially in the larger city environments). These are intended to be peaceful gatherings but you never know who will try to incite violence and make it look like the protesters caused it... Take a moment to stop in the face of stimulation and choose - LISTEN to the energy and calmly leave the vicinity if you have any doubts about anything.
PinkConsciousness will be marching in Santa Rosa, CA with Sonoma County Stands Together for Women.
Community tables will be set up by 11:00am and rally will start at noon, followed by a short sidewalk march thru the downtown area at about 1:30pm.
If you want to march with PC, meet us on the corner of 1st Street & Santa Rosa Avenue at 1:15pm. You will see our signs.
We know our cheers - "Sisterhood for the greater good!" and "Light a Match to Your Snatch - Ignite the female fire!" We have a surprise for our sister marchers, we can't wait to hand them out... See you Saturday!
In the spirit of divine femininity and democracy,
Kim and Laurie xo
